    Course description

    This course is intended for staff who will use grinding machines for construction, maintenance, installation, modification operations or in workshops. The aim of this course is to train participants in the key skills and knowledge required to enable them to completely select, inspect, mount and check abrasive wheels as per the manufacturer’s instructions and according to current legislation.

    The course will cover: 

    • Nine points of training in abrasive wheels
    • Accidents and potential accidents
    • PPE requirements
    • Legislation
    • Types of wheels
    • Grades of wheel
    • Wheel markings
    • Inspection of machines
    • Inspection of wheels
    • Mounting wheels

    Candidates are assessed by completion of a theoretical question paper and a practical assessment.

    This course is delivered over one day.The morning session shall cover theoretical and practical sessions on the correct selection, inspection and mounting of wheels and the afternoon session shall be spent on practical cutting and grinding a variety of materials.
