This evening class will take students into the creative landscapes of poetry and prose writing, run by writer and experienced facilitator of creativity: Janis Mackay.
You will have the opportunity to explore the writer's craft and to experiment with a variety of writing styles, character development, dialogue, monologue, plot, language and drama. Whether you are interested in writing a novel, penning a few lines of poetry or simply playing with words, this course aims for inspiration! During the course there is the opportunity to study a variety of Higher National units.
Janis Mackay has an MA in creative writing and personal development and has twice been the writer in residence in Caithness and Sutherland. Janis was winner of the Kelpies Prize 2009 with her book Magnus Fin and the Ocean Quest.
The class is frequently offered in Thurso and Wick, with further timetable details given in the brochures published in July and December each year. The course may also be available through the Community Empowerment project: contact garry.ogg@thurso.uhi.ac.uk.
