    Highland Junior Golf Championships (Aviemore)

    Date : 14/10/2010

The Highland Junior Golf Championships are being held at Spey Valley Golf Course, Aviemore on Thursday 14th October 2010.

This year the Championships are again being sponsored by North Highland College UHI.

Willie MacKay, Highland Junior Golf Development Officer, welcomed the agreement as the Golf Management college degree students, based at the North Highland College Dornoch Campus, have been assisting with the running of the event for a few years. With entry to the championships being open all under 18’s from Highland, Moray, Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland the link with North Highland College UHI provides benefits for both parties.

Alan Fleming, lecturer on the B.A. Golf Management Course commented, “The course team at North Highland College - UHI are delighted to continue our involvement and support for Clubgolf and the Highland Junior Golf Championships. Our students benefit from the experience of assisting in the running of a large event and we also hope to promote the development of golf in the Highlands by encouraging young golfers to consider a career in the golf industry. Previous participants in the event have entered the Golf Management programme with us in Dornoch and there are places available for 2010 entry.

Entry forms for the competition will be issued to all Golf Clubs and Secondary Schools in the areas in August 2010.
