The North Highland College recently held it’s 2nd annual Psychology Day at the Averon Centre in Alness. Ninety three Higher Psychology pupils from across seven feeder schools in Caithness, Sutherland and Ross-shire attended from a total of 130 6th year pupils who are studying the Higher Psychology course.
This qualification has been successfully offered through the North Highland College for the past five years and provides an opportunity for pupils to study a wider curriculum during 6th year. It also adds to the preparation by the schools for the pupils in realising the level of studies to be undertaken if they choose to attend College/University.
The Community and Health Section offers this qualification as part of their wide curricular delivery covering healthcare, childcare and social care. In all of these areas students are able to study from Skills for Work at Intermediate 1 right up to Honours Degree level based on the campuses in Thurso, Wick or Alness. This has provided opportunities for students to remain in the local geographical area and yet gain qualifications required for them to practice within the various health, child and social care settings.
