    Elementary food hygiene in Thurso COURSE FULL

    This one day course provides six hours of tuiition, successful completion of the multiple choice question paper at the end of the day, will give a qualification to food handlers which is nationally recognised by all sectors of the food industry. It will provide food handlers with a basic understanding of food hygiene. The certificate provides employees with the working knowledge required to ensure hygiene regulations are followed correctly.

    The course covers:

    • Bacteria and how it affects food
    • Food pests and their control
    • Cleaning practices
    • Hygiene and habits of food handlers
    • Hygiene in the preparation, cooking and storage of food
    • Current food legislation.

    The course is certificated by The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland.

    Flagstones at Morven, The North Highland College, Main Campus, Ormlie Road, Thurso, Cost £70, 9.15am - 4.30pm. Refreshments are included; lunch is available at this venue but is not included in the cost.

    This course is now full, but if you wish to have your name added to the waiting list for the next available course, contact Admissions. While no specific date has yet been set, we usually run a series of courses in late August or early September.

    This course has been approved by ILAScotland. It is therefore possible for you to use a current ILA to pay for the course if there is sufficient in your account. You should send your ILA card to the Finance Office of The NHC-Thurso well before the date the course is being held and we will then register you on the course with ILAScotland.

    Once they have received this booking the ILA will send you a letter with a detachable token which you must then bring with you on the day of the course. Please note that if you wish to use an ILA you must let us know in good time to enable us to register you on the course. If you do not, then we cannot guarantee that you will be able to use your ILA. If you do not hold a current Individual Learning Account (ILA) it is therefore advisable to apply for one as soon as possible as they may take some time to process your request.
